KTM Gear-Based Power Restriction Remover (950 & 990 LC8 Models)

CHF 39.00

Unlock the full performance of your KTM by removing factory-imposed power restrictions in lower gears. This gear-based derestrictor eliminates ECU limitations typically applied in 2nd and 3rd gear, resulting in smoother throttle response, more consistent power delivery, and a significantly improved riding experience—both on-road and off-road.

Designed for KTM models using gear-dependent ignition and throttle strategies, this plug-and-play solution allows your engine to deliver its full potential across all gears.

🔧 Key Features

  • Removes OEM power restrictions in 2nd and 3rd gear
  • Noticeably improved throttle response and rideability
  • Consistent power delivery across all gears
  • Plug & play installation – no cutting, no ECU flashing
  • Fully reversible

⚙️ What it does
Some KTM models are restricted in specific gears to comply with emissions and noise regulations. These restrictions limit throttle opening, ignition timing, or fueling in lower gears.
This module modifies the gear signal sent to the ECU, preventing these restrictions and allowing full engine performance regardless of selected gear.

🔧 Installation Steps

1. Locate the gear position sensor connector
- Find the connector coming from the gear position sensor (usually near the front sprocket area).
- ⚠️ Important: The sidestand switch uses identical connectors — make sure you are disconnecting the correct one.

2. Disconnect the connector
- Carefully separate the OEM connector.
- Do not pull on the wires — use the connector tabs.

3. Install the derestrictor module
- Connect the derestrictor in-line between the two original connectors:
- One side to the bike harness
- One side to the gear sensor

4. Check connections
- Ensure all connectors are fully seated and locked.
- Verify that wiring is not pinched or under tension.

5. Secure the module
- Position the module safely away from moving parts and heat sources.
- Use zip ties if necessary.

6. Done
- Start the bike and ride as normal. No further setup required.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Installation is fully reversible
  • No ECU flashing or programming required
  • Always ensure compliance with local regulations

Not compatible with ride-by-wire models using advanced ECU strategies (newer 690/790/890 platforms)
